The Red Rose season finished at a very muddy Marl Pits.  Some excellent runs from Pendle athletes and some prizes.  Check the Red Rose website once results have been confirmed.

This is the report from organiser Steve Duxbury:

4th Dec. 2011
Thanks to all my team at Rossendale, and all the officials who helped to stage the last fixture in fairly challenging conditions, and congratulations to all the athletes who ran in one of the toughest and muddiest courses we’ve had in recent years. There were no injuries as far as Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue team were concerned although I did witness several lost shoes along the course. I have several items of lost property so if you have any missing items please email me and I’ll try to get it back to you.
Everything went well until the start of the last lap of the senior men’s race when an over enthusiastic, and misinformed, spectator apparently directed the leading five athletes into the finish. Ultimately, it is up to athletes to know the course, but I can understand the dilemma they faced when given bad advice from someone who they thought was a Race Marshall so, as race organiser, with responsibility for the course, I would like to offer my personal apology to the athletes concerned. Fortunately, Tom Carson’s overall position wasn’t affected by the mistake although this may not be the case with the others concerned.
Overall results are now on the web and a list of the award winners will be posted after Wednesday’s committee meeting. Please note that team managers or individuals must inform Ken Smith, or me, of any errors in the results prior to this, the last committee meeting of the season. Tickets for the Presentation Evening, on Saturday 4th February, will be available from team managers after the meeting.
