Several Pendle athletes turned out on an unseasonal day for the Blackpool Open – “strangely there was no wind!”

Leah Hillman did what she does best – in winning the Shot Putt, Hammer Throw and Javelin.

Spencer Phelan won the Shot Putt late in the day, beating athletes from Blackpool and Sale with 5.09m, he also came 3rd in the U13B LJ (I predict he’ll break 4m before the season ends), and ran well in the 80m sprint.

Neng was happy with his 2 sprints and Natrika appears to be getting back to full fitness.

In the final event of the day Helena Leathley competed in the 3k and was first woman home.

Congratulations to all the 5 Pendle athletes who ran in the English Counties XC on Saturday – all athletes finished in the top halves of the field with Matthew Barnes having the highest finish – being 73rd.

It is my opinion that Helena Leathley is the most improved athlete on the XC circuit this year – congratulations Helena.
