Pendle Leisure Trust have won funding to replace the track at Seedhill and renew the hammer/discus circle.  This funding is for £50k and linked to Olympic legacy monies.    Pendle Council are then match funding the grant.

Further details are on the Lancashire Telegraph site http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/10191435.Pendle_leisure_bosses_welcome___50K_facilities_boost/

The track is heavily worn and has only been patched since it was first laid.  There are cracks and subsidence and the inside lane in particular is badly worn.  The discus circle is also in a poor condition, despite previous attempts to repair it.

No doubt there will be some disruption when the work is carried out but hopefully this will give us another 20 years of use.  A start date hasn’t yet been set and the work is out to tender.  The track may be unavailable for 4 weeks when the work is underway.
