Saturday 9th February, 2013

Pendle Athletic Club had a great show of
runners for the Mid Lancs XC at Lancaster last Saturday.  The weather
was pretty good for running, a little murky but not too cold and not
windy.  There was a little light rain to start with but that cleared
away leaving pleasant conditions.  The ground again was very soft but
the tracks through the trees made for some varied running.

First to
run for Pendle was Ruby Schofield who had an excellent run keeping
ahead of the majority of the field coming in 7th position.  Ruby has
been consistent throughout the season displaying some confident running
– well done Ruby.  Ella Atkins had a brilliant run finishing in 31st
position in a field of 43 – great running Ella.

Next to run were our
strong team of U13 boys who ran with the U15 girls.  The team finished
in 3rd position with an outstanding run once again from Kai Atkins who
finished in 7th position.  Joe Lonsdale had a brilliant sprint finish
coming in at 14th with Gregan Baker close behind at 19th.  Harry
Schofield who is making a come back after suffering injuries over the
past year is looking stronger having an excellent run finishing in
25th.  Timmy Barnes and Jacob Van Geffen followed close behind in 28th
and 31st position respectively and last but not least came Harvey Van
Geffen, 37th, who had an amazing sprint finish with a big smile on his
face as always – well done to all the U13 boys for a fantastic turnout.

Adele Ogden had a brilliant run for the U15 girls coming in at no.23.
It was a long and tricky run for Adele but she survived the muddy
conditions.

Again our U15 boys displayed some remarkable performances
with Matthew Barnes and James Marchant finishing in 3rd and 4th
respectively.  Thomas Marchant had an excellent run finishing in 8th
position with Luke Thompson and Tiarnan Crorken following close behind
in 11th and 12th position.  The U15 Boys Team deservedly finished in
1st position on the day – well done to all – great team running.

The
U17’s managed a team on Saturday with Darius Boardman, Matthew Dutton
and Josh Ingham completing the course in 7th, 8th and 18th positions
respectively.  The U17 course is gruelling but the boys seem to handle
the conditions well– brilliant running.

Last but not least – our
ladies – Janet Barnes and Faye Holden having fantastic runs in a big
field of senior women finishing in 100th and 102nd position
respectively –fantastic running from you both.

Pendle Athletic Club is
very proud of all the runners who have taken part in the Cross Country’
s this season showing some consistent excellent results and thank you
to all the parents who have been there to support our runners.
