SATURDAY 25TH AND SUNDAY
26TH MAY 2013

Well, what can I say about last weekend !    Small Club
but a huge effort from all our athletes and AMAZING results.

The sun was definitely shining for Pendle Athletes and all the spectators who
enjoyed two days of sitting in the sunshine watching the weekend’s
events unfold.

All and everyone representing and supporting Pendle
Athletic Club should feel immensely proud of the achievements of our
young Athletes.

From what I can calculate Pendle Athletes accumulated
7 Gold Medals, 11 Silver Medals, and 7 Bronze Medals as well as 22
Personal Best Performances, 4 New Pendle Records and 3 Championship
Best Performances – Wow – you can’t get better than that !!!

First to mention, Leah Hillman – a credit to the Club and her family – She
attained Golds for Javelin, Hammer, Discus and Shot in the U15 Girls
and achieved Championship Best Positions for Javelin, Hammer and Shot
as well as breaking the Pendle Athletic Club Records for Discus,
Javelin and Hammer – brilliant results Leah – well done.

Also in the attaining 4 Silver Medals in the Long Jump, Javelin, 100m and Discus
for the U13 Boys and also breaking a Pendle Club Record for the Discus
was Spencer Phelan – a fantastic all rounder – keep up the good work
Spencer !

Other Gold Medal performances came from Kai Atkins in the
U13 Boys 1500m, Luke Thompson in the U15 Boys 800m, Matthew Barnes in
the U15 Boys 3000m all giving Personal Best Performances – fantastic
results boys.

Our Silver Medal performances came from Kai Atkins in

Thompson in the 1500m U15 Boys, Darius Boardman for the U17 Men 1500m
and Neng Wildman in the U20 Men for the 100m – a great achievement for
you all – brilliant.

Our Bronze Medal performances came from Matthew Thompson in the U15 Boys 1500m and the U15 Boys 800m, Daemon Metcalfe
in the U15 Boys High Jump and the U15 Boys Long Jump (with an amazing
jump of 1.60m in the High Jump and 5.05m in the Long Jump – outstanding
jumping Daemon !), Joe Lonsdale in the U15 Boys 200m – well deserved –
great result Joe – PB’s for both your 100m and 200m, Neng Wildman for
this U20 Mens 200m and Natrika Wildman for a Bronze Medal in the U15
Shot (her third medal of the weekend – well done Natrika)

Personal Best performances were also achieved by Gregan Baker in the U15 Boys
200m, and James Marchant in the 3000m U17 Men.

Other athletes competing were Thomas Marchant who had a great U15 Boys 1500m run, Alan
Plumb in the Hammer Event who unfortunately sustained a slight injury
to his back, Matthew Dutton who ran a great U17 Men’s 800m Final and
Alex Baker, U13 Girl, who competed for the first time in a BIG athletic
event.  She didn’t manage to get a medal at the weekend but got herself
2 PB’s in Discus and Javelin and a medal at Trafford on Monday !

Thanks must also go to our Team of Officials who spent two days over
the weekend giving their time, Faye Holden who spent two days
recording, Karen Hillman who was a Track Official and Sheila Markendale
and Derek Butterworth who were officiating the Field Events not
forgetting Noel who came to support his boys – crutches ‘n’ all –
wishing you a speedy recovery Noel.

There we go for another year – give yourselves a great round of applause – still plenty of competing
to be done throughout the summer the next event being the Youth
Development League at Litherland on Saturday, 1st June.

I apologise for any errors or any Club Records missed – please let me know of any
amendments, any mistakes are not intentional !
