This has been a busy weekend for club athletes in all disciplines.

On Saturday a number of Club athletes competed in county schools T&F competitions for both Lancashire and Yorkshire.  I hear on the grapevine that Neng Wildman was particularly successful and that Leah Hillman is making me update the club records again!

Also on Saturday there was the English junior FRA uphill only championship race.  This is a particularly masochistic race 2 miles long with 242m of ascent up Winder Hill, Sedbergh.  Thomas Marchant was our only runner and came a very creditable 8th.

Sunday saw the latest round of the BOFRA champs with a race at Kettlewell in Wharfedale.  Unfortunately the ford across the Wharfe has been eroded and the narrow stream was 5ft deep meaning that a river crossing was too dangerous, however this made for a fast start up the road watched by the tourists.  An obligatory swim in the river after the race is part of the ritual at fell races and the Pendle athletes joined in the fun.

Next Saturday sees the senior fell runners at the English champs race at Buckden Gala, just up the road from kettlewell.  On Sunday there is the BOFRA Hawkswick Dash a real lung buster.
