Stretford

Not just glorious – absolutely
SCORCHING!

Our enthusiastic band of Pendle athletes had fun taking to
the trees for shade and I don’t mean under them !!!

Once again our
athletes did not disappoint anyone – they are a credit to the Club and
all performed their utmost gaining a further 20 Personal Bests with Kai
Atkins, Joe Lonsdale and Alex Baker equalling their PBs in the 1500m,
100m and Long Jump respectively

On what felt like the hottest day of
the year our 22 athletes finished overall in 3rd place on the day, 11
points behind Colwyn Bay.

Impressive performances came from Louis
Taylor-Bolshaw who gained 3 personal bests on the day – proving himself
in the throwing world as a competent thrower – well done Louis.

Also
Rebecca Leeming who also gained 3 personal bests with the 100m, 200m
and Shot – a great achievement Rebecca – excellent.

Alex Baker is
going from strength to strength finishing first in the Javelin with a
personal best of  17.35. just under 3 metres further than her last
result, a PB in her Shot and equalling her PB in the Long Jump.

performance Zoe.

Other personal bests came from Saul Wilds in the
Javelin with a tremendous throw of 24.57 in the Javelin, Daemon
Metcalfe in the 80m Hurdles, Sam Taylor-Bolshaw in the 200m, Luke
Thompson in the Shot, Thomas Marchant in the 1500m, Laura Harvey in the
150m, Natrika Wildman in the 200m  and Sophie Garner in the Javelin
finishing lst in the B competition – well done Sophie.

The biggest
cheer of the day went to Laura Harvey, who was very nervous about
having a go in the U13 girls High Jump but she did it – clearing a
height of 1.20 metres – well done Laura – I know this is the highest
you have ever jumped even in training so I am really proud of you.

We
managed to field four relay teams in the Boys U13 4 x 100m, Kai Atkins,
Jamie Oldcorn, Spencer Phelan and Saul Wilds finishing 2nd.

U15 Girls
4 x 100m – Sophie Garner, Rebecca Leeming, Zoe Smith and Natrika
Wildman (sorry Leah !) finishing in 5th position after a great run from
you all.

U15 Boys 4 x 100m – Sam Taylor-Bolshaw, Daemon Metcalfe, Luke
Thompson and Joe Lonsdale – finishing in 2nd after a tremendous last
leg from Joe – well done

Finally, the U15 Boys 4 x 300m with Matthew
Thompson, Luke Thompson, Thomas Marchant and Matthew Barnes – finishing
in 1st position – well done.

To all the athletes who took part who
have not been mentioned previously, Tiarnan, Gregan, Leah, Jamie, Matty
B and Spencer, you all had a great day doing what you enjoy and do best
– well done.

Thank you to all the officials who helped and to our
newcomers in the officiating field.  I hoped they enjoyed helping out
and hope they will volunteer again at future events ! – Alison Phelan,
Karen Hillman, Denzil Metcalfe, Ryan Atkins, Bryan Wildman and
newcomers James Marchant on timekeeping, Neil Thompson on Shot and
David Hillman on Hammer, Noel and David – thank you one and all.

This
is the last of the Youth Development fixtures for this season and I
must congratulate you all.  It is looking like we may have finished
second in the league but this has yet to be confirmed.  Second or third
we have had a brilliant year – well done to all of you.

And finally,
thank you to all the parents who came to enjoy the sunshine and watch
the days’ events unfold not forgetting Ella Atkins who also had fun in
the sun and climbing trees !

Still to take place are the Mid Lancs
Meetings at Ormskirk this Sunday, (21st July), Hyndburn (10th August)
and the Mid Lancs Medal Meeting this year at Wigan (31st August).
Everyone is welcome to take part in these events but if you have been
given a Mid Lancs number please try and remember to bring it with
you!  For those who have not been given a number already I will have
numbers for you on the day.
