It’s that time of year when everyone is thinking of doing some more exercise spurred on by the longer days.  Why not give athletics a go?

Pendle AC welcomes athletes of all ages and abilities – we are a community club.  Whilst we have county champions, and former members who compete for England,  most members come along to have fun and keep fit.

Young athletes aged 7 to 11 years are welcome all year round.  Training is on Mondays at Fisher More School during term time. The session starts at 18:45 and is based around sports hall athletics.  Just turn up and introduce yourself to the club secretary.

Older athletes can chose between throws, endurance and sprint squads who all meet at Seedhill athletics track, near the Thatch and thistle pub.  If you’ve trained before then you are welcome at any time.  However if you are new to athletics the best time to start is in the spring, so come along in March or April.  Just turn up on a Monday or Wednesday at 1900 hrs.

The sessions at Seedhill are all outside but athletes have access to the changing rooms.  Wear trainers and loose fitting clothing that you can run in.  It’s still cold so wear plenty of layers.

Main club details are on this website but regular news on races and track meetings is on a facebook site which is just for club members.  If you are a member do join because there are some excellent reports and pictures on the site.
