English Schools T & F Championships at Gateshead – Alex had a fantastic day on Friday with the Lancashire team competing in the Junior Girls Javelin but unfortunately didn’t make the final 8 out of 22 and survived the only rain of the day (sorry – torrential deluge!) which left her soaked just as she was about to start ! Tiarnan Crorken from Pendle also had a brilliant run but finished just outside the finals selection. Joe Lonsdale had an amazing run in the 200m finishing 2nd which now puts him in the final of the 200m.

Saturday – Today was Leah’s Javelin and what an incredibly nerve wracking show of talent it was – her first throw landed her a PB of 41.11m. This put her through to a further 3 throws where she bettered her PB to 41.26. This brilliant performance put her in 2nd place awarding her with a very well deserved Silver medal. Simply superb Leah – you are a Star xx
Also today saw the final of Joe Lonsdale in the 200m, tense doesn’t even come close as the anticipation was killing us but like a true professional he put in a fantastic run leaving us with not knowing if he came 2nd, 3rd or 4th it was that close ! All of a sudden he appeared out of nowhere on the podium in 3rd place with a massive smile on his face – well done – you too are a star.
First time for me at English Schools Champs and what a fantastic experience it was, the pure talent of all the young athletes astounded me, the parade, the gathering of all the counties, the air of tension hanging over the stadium when all the finals were taking place and the proud feeling I had with all our Pendle athletes who took part in their various events – hope one day I may get the opportunity to experience it all again.
A big thank you to Sheila and Steve the Lancashire Team Managers and their team for supporting our children throughout the weekend
