I attach an order of events and would suggest you arrive at least 1 1/2 hours before to sort your numbers out and warm up before your first event. Those who did the last one please bring your numbers but please don’t not turn up if you have lost it – I can sort you out with a replacement number !

If you are thinking of coming and need a vest please let me know this week.

Thank you

Mid Lancs T & F Fixtures – Order of Events 2018

Lynn Baker uploaded a file.

Mid Lancs Track & Field Fixtures

Blackburn – First Fixture- Saturday 7.4.18

It is the first of the Mid Lancs Track & Field Fixtures – please can you try and let me know if you are thinking of going. I will collect numbers early – they will be available for collection in the big blue Pendle Gazebo at the far end of the track. You need to keep your numbers safe for each of the Mid Lancs fixtures – they will get creased and crumpled throughout the season but don’t worry – what ever you do please don’t iron them – trust me – they melt !! I have attached a timetable of the events and suggest that you arrive in plenty of time – an hour before, in order to get your numbers and warm up for your events. I shall have a bag of spare vests for those who do not have them to borrow and return at the end of the day. If anyone requires a new vest, please message me asap.

We are down to officiate for the Javelin on Saturday – if anyone is available to help please let me know – we should be providing 4 officials – it would be appreciated if I could have some support.

Thank you
Lynn

Young Athlete Group. Monday and Wednesday sessions

The sessions will be on during the school holidays with the exception of Monday, 2 April which is Easter Monday.

Young Athlete Group Monday session.

The final indoor session at Fisher More was on Monday, 5 March, earlier than anticipated as the hall was needed for mock exams for the week beginning 12 March. Therefore, on Monday, 12 March we will be back at Seedhill Track, 7-8 p.m. There is a fee (around £3.80) to use the track which is collected at reception by Pendle Leisure Trust staff; this money does not go to the club. All athletes who use the track have to pay this fee. If your son/daughter has an ACTIVO pass it can be used at Seedhill. Wear some warm clothes and a comfortable pair of trainers.

The same applies to the Wednesday sessions too.

Coaching Courses

As we have mentioned previously the club has needed more coaches for some time.  Again, we are asking parents, especially parents of our younger athletes, who may have an interest in coaching athletics to consider taking a UKA course.   The courses usually take place over a weekend and all costs are met by the club for those who can commit to coaching at least one of the Monday or Wednesday sessions.

Coaching Assistant

Who should go on this course?
Anyone aged 16 or over, who is interested in taking the first step into a coaching pathway and wants to understand the fundamental technical principles of coaching.

How many days will it take?
Two days (normally delivered over the course of one weekend) with no assessment.

What will I learn?
The technical coaching knowledge to underpin running, jumping and throwing activities. You’ll then learn how to apply these principles into a number of fun and exciting practical examples.
Topics covered include: Understanding fundamental movement skills, introduction to Athletics 365, delivering warm up and cool downs, coaching through fun, safe and enjoyable games, delivering speed work and endurance based activities, understanding the mechanics of jumping and throwing and the principles of session planning.

What will I be able to do?
By attending the Coaching Assistant course, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to deliver effective and engaging club sessions using task cards and session plans.
