Please let me know if you are intending to go to the Cross Country at Chorley – I know Charlotte is thinking of going and also a couple of senior men. I would suggest that if we can we leave the numbers at registration once you have collected your numbers so that one of the senior men can bring the numbers back to Pendle. Please see the attachment for the race details – unfortunately I cannot attend as my daughter is training in Rochdale.

If anyone needs a vest please let me know by tomorrow at the latest and as with the Mid Lancs – please hang on to your numbers for the season.

Good luck everyone and please let me know how you go on

Course Description rev B(2)

Just a reminder re the course on Saturday at Cuerden Valley.

As I will not be able to make it on Saturday – if you require a vest I will be at the track on Wednesday night.

With regard to the numbers – please visit the registration tent or desk and ask for the Pendle numbers – your number should be in the envelope. Please leave the numbers at the desk for everyone to collect – the last people to register – Jon Van Geffen or Thomas Marchant – they will bring the numbers back to the Club for me – please.

For those who have not done a Cross Country before – please keep your numbers safe after the race – you will have the same number all season.  Don’t worry about them getting dirty or creased – whatever you do – don’t iron them – they melt !! Trust me – I know !

Dear Parents,

We can now confirm that we shall be hiring Fisher More High School’s sports hall for indoor training on Monday evenings for the club’s Young Athletes’ group.

Training indoors will commence on MONDAY, 16 October 6:45 – 7:45 p.m. and will continue until the middle of MARCH 2018.  Athletes using the facility will be charged £2.00 to cover the cost of the hire.  Athletes should meet and be collected inside school, but parents can be assured that an official from the club will remain at the school until all athletes have been collected.  There will be some Mondays when we will not be allowed to use the school sportshall – half-term holidays and when the hall is used for mock exams but we will notify you of these dates.

Therefore, after the Monday, 9 October session, the outdoor Monday sessions at Seedhill track for the Young Athletes’ Group will discontinue until March 2018, when we will return to the track.  The Sprint, Endurance and Throws groups remain at Seedhill track throughout the winter and the Wednesday sessions for young athletes (7-8 p.m.) also continue at the track throughout the winter.

All children who wish to train with the club MUST be members; their details are stored on an England Athletics database which ensures they have insurance cover and the club also takes out extra cover in a Personal Accident insurance policy. The club will then also have full contact details, emergency contact details and any medical information which may need to be taken into consideration by club coaches.

Several athletes have been training at Seedhill for some time and have not returned their membership form with the annual membership fee.  The forms need to be completed and the fee paid before we start indoor training at Fisher More; we must ensure that all athletes are on our database and have full insurance cover.  Our coaches should not be coaching athletes without insurance cover.

We have again contacted Fisher More and still have no news when we can start our Monday indoor training for the Young Athlete Group.  We have asked to start on the 16 October and have been told this should be ok.  Letters are ready to go out and information is ready for the club’s website and Facebook but until we have definite confirmation we will still be training at Seedhill track.

The first cross countries are Mid Lancs – Cuerden Valley Park
on 14th October – see the Mid Lancs Cross Country and Track website for full details of maps and parking.

The first Red Rose League XC is on the 14th October also at Leigh Sports Village
Sale Way
Leigh
WN7 4JY

Please let me know if anyone is interested in going to either. Lynn

Please find below a list of all the Cross Country Fixtures for this season – if you want to go to any of them please try and see Lynn or Christine then we can ensure that you have vests, a number and full instructions.

Mid Lancs League Medal Meeting – Blackpool

Saturday 26th August 2017

AWESOME ! – not only the weather (must have been the best day of the season!) but the amazing performances from our small band of Pendle Athletes.

Ten athletes competed on Saturday and all received medal winning positions.   It is the end of the season and most are getting ready for a rest and then on to winter training ready for next season.  We have had another fabulous year as a Club, although slightly diminished in competing athletes this year, the ones that competed have achieved some amazing goals.

To finish the Mid Lancs series in Blackpool, we had 10 athletes, 6 Gold Medals,11 Silver Medals and 3 Bronze Medals with a special mention to Michael Makram, U15 Boys, who competed for the first time on Saturday so unfortunately wasn’t eligible for medals, but finished 2nd in the Shot with an amazing throw of 8.35m and finished 3rd in the Discus with a throw of 22.98m – brilliant Michael – hope to see you competing again next year.

Joe Lonsdale (Senior Men) finished on a high with two golds and a silver in the 100m, 200m and relay.  He has had an amazing year once again beating Club Records, competing at the English Schools and Welsh Outdoor International in Cardiff, received selection a place at the Newcastle games

Daemon Metcalfe (Senior Men) gained a Gold in the High Jump and Silver in the relay. He too has had a fantastic year.

Greagan Baker (Senior Men) gained a Silver in Javelin, High Jump and relay – well done Gregan.

Jamie Oldcorn and Morgan Webster have competed all year for the U17 Men and have gone from strength to strength culminating in a Gold for Morgan in the 800m and two Bronze Medals and an equal PB for Jamie in the 100m  and 200m, Jamie was also the 4th member of the relay gaining a Silver Medal for the Club.

On to the Ladies, Anita Saunders, Senior Women, in the 100m powered on through to gain a Silver Medal and a PB along with a Silver Medal in the 200m and a commendable throw in the Shot just under her PB.

I was more than happy to receive a Silver and Bronze Medal in the Hammer and Discus and still maintain that the shot is flippin heavy !

Zoe Kidney (U17 Women) had a brilliant throw of 39.18m to take the Gold in Javelin with Alex Baker taking the Silver in Javelin, Gold in Shot Putt (being the top lady thrower of the day with a throw of 11.22m) and a Silver in Discus.  Both girls reached the English Schools this year and have both had an amazing year.

None of these events would happen without the Officials who turn out to every event.  We have struggled a little this year but got there in the end – a massive thank you to Derek Butterworth, Faye Holden, Daemon Metcalfe, Tim Lonsdale for Saturday and to all our other helpers through the year, Noel and David, Dave Oldcorn, Michael Webster, Bryan Wildman and David Hillman We are always looking for help to officiate and there are basic officiating coursed taking place which will be paid by the Club if anyone is interested in helping out.

Hopefully next year we can encourage a few more athletes to take part in the various competitions – it is fantastic to see how athletes develop over the years and my pride is like an inflatable ball ready to burst (had to have a buzz word – thanks Alex Baker !)

Onwards and upwards Pendle AC !
