From Lynn Baker.  Apparently the “summer” weather was so poor that none of the photos are worth publishing.

A hardy bunch of Pendle runners ventured across to Helmshore on
Wednesday night for the Pilgrims Cross Fell Race.  This is an excellent
run for youngsters organised by Rossendale Harriers.  Unfortunately on
Wednesday the weather was ‘grim by nature’.  However, our runners did
us proud with Alex Baker and Ruby Schofield coming in 1st and 2nd girls
in the U10 race followed by an excellent run by Thomas Marchant, Gregan
Baker and Harry Schofield who completed the 1, 2, 3 in the U12 race.
Not to be outshone ( if you can say that in the dire weather that we
had) James Marchant stormed an excellent win in the U14 race.  Our
chief supporter Lydia Schofield cheered everyone on as there were no
competitors to run against in the U8 race (not surprising with the
weather)  We returned to Pendle feeling very proud, very wet and ready
for a hot bath.  Well done to everyone.

Paul was the only club runner at Arncliffe Gala on Saturday and the tough Boulsworth Moor Race (part of Trawden Show) on Sunday.  Also on Sunday Sean Crorken, Harry, Ruby and Lydia Schofield competed at the non champs Bofra race at Cray.

The next key fell race is at Darwen this Saturday, which is part of the Inter Pennine clubs juniuor champs.  Some people will also be at the Bofra champs race at  Gargrave Show on the same day.   Later on Saturday there is also Burnsall Feast with a 10 mile road race followed by a fell race (one of the classics).  It is possible to do both Gargrave and Burnsall if you are very keen!

The weekend after sees fell races every day for 5 days so talk to Paul if you need some advice on where to go!

This Friday sees the presentation evening for the Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix – details on their website.  This will also mark the retirement of Gerry McCabe the man behind the series for the past 25 years.
