Below are details of the cross Country Leagues to which we affiliate. (Fixture list attached).  There is no fee required to compete in either of these leagues as the club pays an affiliation fee.
Red Rose Cross Country League
Any U11 athlete who wishes to compete in the Red Rose League must be 8 years old on the day of the race. The U11 age group is part of the league and therefore eligible for awards at the end of the season.  Athletes competing must wear a club vest. We do have a small number of vests to lend on the day but it is much better if athletes purchase their own vest.
Presently, we still have vests missing from the stock we loan for the day because athletes who have borrowed vests have not returned them.  If anyone has a club vest which they have not purchased please can they return it as soon as possible and if any athlete has a vest they have outgrown and do not want we always welcome them for our loan stock.
Mid Lancs Cross Country League
In the Mid Lancs League the U11 races are used as an introduction to cross country and athletes are not eligible for awards at the end of the season.  There is not an 8 year old restriction and Dawn, who organizes the league is happy for younger athletes to run if parents  feel  their  child will enjoy the run (see your child’s coach if you are uncertain).   Under 11 athletes do not have to wear a club vest but if there are any spare from our ‘loan stock’ they can borrow one.   Alternatively, they can also purchase their own club vest.  See Daemon down at the track.
The first Mid Lancs fixture is at Towneley Park on the 6 October and would be a good race to start with as there is little travel involved, the U11 races are the first races of the day so you will have the option to go after your race or stay and watch older athletes from the club compete.
Membership Young Athlete Group
There has been a big increase in the number of young athletes over the past two months and we are presently trying to get up to date with club membership.  All children being coached at the club must become members after an initial trial period of three sessions.  All membership details are kept on an England Athletics data base (not a club database) and this ensures that athletes and our coaches receive full insurance cover.  The club also takes out Personal Accident Insurance based on the number of athletes in membership so it is important that membership is kept up to date.  Our coaches should not be training athletes who do not have insurance cover.
Membership U13 age group to Senior
There is still membership outstanding from existing members which should have been paid before the end of April this year.  As mentioned above everyone who trains with a Pendle AC coach must complete a membership form and pay their subs.  We have athletes, whose main sport may not be athletics, who train on an irregular basis and in some cases they do not pay their membership.  This in the main tends to be in the sprint group where athletes want sprint training for their main sport.  Again, as mentioned above Pendle AC coaches should not be training athletes who do not have an up to date England Athletics’ registration number and as a consequence have no insurance cover.
Indoor Training at Pendle Vale
We have been informed this week that our regular annual booking of the sports hall from October to March with Pendle Vale Campus Social Enterprise Limited has been cancelled, along with all other local sporting organisations’ bookings.  Pendle Vale College Business Manager has informed us that all bookings have been cancelled and no further bookings will be taken; she could give no indication when the facilities would again be open for community use.  Presently, we are trying to find alternative venues large enough to accommodate our young athlete group.
