Spencer, Gregan and Leah would like wish everyone at Pendle AC a Merry Christmas
and a very ‘Athletic’ New Year !

Just a reminder that the Stoop fell race is on Sunday 16th December, not the weekend after!  Junior race start at 1030 details on www.woodentops.org.uk.  Get there early; there are likely to be nearly 200 junior runners plus even more seniors.

The Auld Lang Syne race on New Year’s eve is adult only and completely full – it sold out within 48 hours.  However if you fancy a trip out then both Jonny and Alistair Brownlee are running and likely to be in the pub afterwards.

Full details: Lynne Edmondson race[1]

Again a good turnout from Pendle runners on a murky day in Kendal.
First ran Ruby Schofield in the U11 girls who came in very strongly at
No 13 – well done Ruby.

Our next event was the U13 Boys which saw a
fantastic performance from Kai Atkins who came in 5th out of a field of
44. Joe Lonsdale followed in 16th place followed by Gregan Baker in
21st place. Jacob Van Geffen came in 24th but had time to incorporate
some acrobatics down the muddy slope, picking himself up and carrying
on with muddy legs and torn pants !  Closely followed by Harry
Schofield and Timmy Barnes in 27th and 29th place respectively.  The
U13 Team finished overall in 3rd position – Well done once again.

Adele Ogden had a great race for the Under 15 Girls coming in in 19th
position.  For those of you that don’t know the course it has quite a
hill in the middle of the course where they run up and around a pylon –
nearly all the runners had to make this ascent at least twice !

The
Under 15 Boys saw exceptional performances from Matthew Barnes and
James Marchant who came in 4th and 5th with Tiarnan Crorken following
closely behind in 11th place.  James had a strong run today and appears
to be almost back to his former fitness after having a couple of years
of injuries – brilliant run James.

Matthew Dutton and Josh Ingham
represented Pendle in the U17 boys with brilliant performances as the
weather became colder and murkier ! For the Fell Runners amongst us,
Farleton Knott had now disappeared from view in an unwelcoming cloud !
They finished strongly in 11th and 21st position.

Finally, Faye Holden
ran a great race in a big field of senior ladies, not put off by the
steep hill and slippery mud slope, mananged to stay on her feet and
finish in style for Pendle Ladies.

Next race is Red Rose at Bolton
next Saturday so let us have a good turnout again for Pendle !

that were on the site last night in this post and the preceding one.  This may be due to the way that they were transferred from facebook.  I will try and sort this out asap, however in the meantime the photos are all on the Pendle AC facebook site.

Liverpool Mid Lancs Cross Country
24th November 2012

It was not the best weather for running, quite cold but it managed to stay fine for the race.  Liverpool is a fantastic national Cross Country event with runners coming from all over the country including Guernsey ! There is a buzz in the air, music and commentary for the whole event making it exciting to watch. Again it was extremely muddy which made the running heavy going but again we had a good turnout from Pendle.
In the U11 Girls, Ruby Schofield had an outstanding run coming in 19th in the Mid Lancs Results with Alex Baker and Ella Atkins surviving the tough course – well done girls – I know they were all frozen at the start so well done for running.
The U13 Boys again saw Kai Atkins finishing strongly in 9th place in the Mid Lancs League with Joe Lonsdale finishing 21st, Jacob Van Geffen having an excellent run finishing in 30th with Gregan Baker finishing in 33rd.  Spencer Phelan, running for the first time at Liverpool found the conditions difficult but continued to finish the race. ( Although he said it was the ‘worst race of his life’ he is already considering doing it all again next year – that’s the spirit !)  It may also have something to do with the fun they had in the autumn leaves, the tree climbing and the feeding of the tame squirrels !!
The U15 Boys saw fantastic runs from Matthew Barnes coming in 7th in the Mid Lancs League, James Marchant finishing strongly in 11th, Thomas Marchant, who had a brilliant run came in 17th and Tiarnan Crorken finishing in 27th.  These are massive running fields so all runners performed brilliantly.  The U15 Boys Team finished in 2nd place – well done.
The U17 boys saw Matty Dutton and Josh Ingham enduring a tough course finishing in 16th and 30th places respectively.

In the Ladies, Anna Anderson had a brilliant run finishing in 9th place with Faye Holden surviving the tough conditions.

All in all, it was a pleasant autumnal morning which again saw fantastic runs from all Pendle members

Hyndburn Red Rose Cross Country
Saturday 10th November 2012
It was a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning at Hyndburn Red Rose Cross Country (in reality it was indeed sunny but extremely muddy which led to challenging and slippy condiditions.
The U13 Boys ran extremely well as a team with Joe Lonsdale coming in 11th, Gregan Baker 15th, Jacob Van Geffen 22nd, Timothy Barnes 28th, Harvey Van Geffen 42th and Spencer Phelan coming in 44th.  It was so nice to see so many Blue vests in one race – the team finishing in 3rd place.
Our only entry in the U15 Girls was Adele Ogden who ran exceptionally well finishing a very respectable 26th.
The U15 Boys were outstanding once again with Matthew Barnes having a brilliant run to finish 2nd place with Thomas Marchant coming in 11th with Jordan Isherwood 18th and Matthew Burrows 26th. Unfortunately, Tiarnan Crorken had to retire due to injuring his knee when slipping in the wood.  The team finished in 2nd place – well done.
Our only other entries at Hyndburn were Faye Holden and Janet Barnes who came in together after enduring extremely muddy conditions – as the races go on the mud gets deeper – Well Done for running !
